Adventures in Crochet: Angry Birds Hat

I don't know about your kids, but my Not-So-Little-Man LOVES the game Angry Birds.  I've been spending a lot of time in my craft room lately (see This Fabulous Project ), but haven't really made him a whole lot.  But what does a mom sew or crochet for her 12-year-old boy?...

...Apparently, an Angry Birds Hat.  I've spent time making gifts for my daughters, but felt bad for not having made anything for him, especially since he watched his little brother for me for some of it.  But I, for the life of me, couldn't think of anything that was "man enough" for him.  Enter blogosphere, yay!  I was kind of in the mood to crochet a hat, since he likes hats and the weather will cool down a tad soon.  I went to my go-to pattern site: Crochet Pattern Central and found this super-awesome pattern linked up by Kendra's Crocheted Creations

Here's the side-view:

The pattern was easy to follow and made up mostly of double-crochet stitches.  This hat took me a total of 4 hours from start to finish with some interruptions by Baby Boy and our cat, Half-Wit.  I made a couple of very-minor tweeks to suit my taste and ended up with a hat that Not-So-Little-Man couldn't wait to wear.  He actually wore it to church the next day, in 100+ degree heat with a t-shirt and shorts...  crazy kid.  But it melted my heart that he didn't even care about the heat, he just wanted to wear and show off what his momma made him.  :)

    1. I'm not a perfectionist, so uneven lines don't bug me too much. :) Thanks for the invite, you have a lovely blog. :)
