Homemade Foamy Soap

I can't believe that some things are so simple and easy.  My latest example is homemade foamy soap.  I'm a fan of the foamy soap because the kid in me really likes playing with bubbles and I kinda giggle inside when I pump bubbles into my hand from the soap dispenser instead of the typical liquid stuff.  It's the same part of me that just HAS to play with tape any time I see a tape dispenser.  I know, I'm a bit looney, but I like it that way.  Anyhow, here's how I discovered how amazingly simple homemade foamy soap is.


I stumbled upon this post at Feathering the Crow's Nest where she gives instructions on how to make your own foam hand soap.  I couldn't believe my eyes and the timing of the post.  I had an old foam handsoap container that had just gone empty which was still sitting on my kitchen sink.  I also had a small bottle of Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Soap sitting on top of my refrigerator, reminding me everyday that I had no clue what to do with this great product.  Now, I use Dr. Bronner's for bathing and absolutely love it, but I knew it was supposed to also be good for other stuff.  I just didn't know for sure what that other stuff was. 

Enter Feathering the Crow's Nest's post about homemade foamy soap and I feel truly enlightened.  It was as simple as cleaning out my old foam soap container, filling it with 4/5 water then 1/5 soap.  That's it, voila!  Considering the soap dispenser was destined for the recycle bin (thus free), the water was free, and I only used a few tablespoons of Dr. Bronners (maybe 10 cents); I'd say this is the cheapest soap EVER!

Thanks to Feathering the Crows Nest for the enlightenment!  Now, after some research, it looks like there's all sorts of uses for Dr. Bronner's outside the bathtub: kitchen cleaner, shaving lotion, toothpaste, laundry, veggie rinse, carpet stain remover, the list goes on.
